Psychiatry has traditionally been one of the only medical fields which has not been able to assess a detailed look at the organ it is treating before developing a treatment plan.
With recent advances in technologies and improved diagnostic measures, practitioners in mental health now have access to innovative tools to make more informed assessments of the patient they seek to help and translate this information into the best possible treatment plans.
Developing a Personalized Treatment Plan
At Nashville Neurocare Therapy, our therapists are trained to use multiple technologies to complete the best possible assessment of each patient’s presenting symptoms and underlying issues to develop a personalized treatment plan. These include a complete Quantitative EEG (QEEG), sleep and psychometric evaluation.
A QEEG, is an assessment that is a type of brain mapping and allows our staff to more accurately assess a patient’s brain functions. The results of the QEEG enable us to determine the Neurofeedback protocol most likely to be an effective and durable treatment for the patient with ADHD and/or sleep problems.
Sleep also plays an important role in our general brain and mental health which is why we always conduct a formal sleep assessment (called Actigraphy) to measure factors which may impact the quality of the patient’s sleep. Our clinical experience shows that a patient is more likely to respond to their treatment if an underlying sleep problem has also been addressed.
