When you’re facing mental health challenges—such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)—finding answers that actually make a difference can feel overwhelming. Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT®) offers new hope by combining cutting-edge technology with a personalized, data-driven approach to support improved brain function and emotional well-being.
Why Patients Choose Mert
Treatment plans typically involve daily sessions over several weeks. Many patients report feeling more like themselves again, experiencing improved sleep, better focus, emotional stability, and overall wellness. Results vary by individual, and ongoing brainwave assessments help optimize care.

Your journey begins with a 10-minute, eyes-closed electroencephalogram (EEG) that measures your brain’s electrical activity. This simple, non-invasive scan takes place in a quiet and comfortable room at our office.
Your EEG results are analyzed using advanced software that maps your unique brainwave activity. Based on this data, a personalized treatment plan is created, targeting specific areas to improve communication within the brain.
Using your individualized protocol, gentle magnetic pulses are delivered to the brain using Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Sessions are comfortable, lasting about 30-45 minutes, and are typically scheduled 5 times a week over 4 to 6 weeks. Progress is monitored with regular EEGs to adjust treatment as needed.
Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT®) is a personalized form of brain stimulation that combines EEG brainwave analysis with tailored TMS protocols to support improved brain communication and function. It is completely drug-free and non-invasive.
MeRT as a personalized treatment protocol is not currently cleared by the FDA. However, the individual technologies used in the process—EEG and TMS—are FDA-cleared for various applications. Clinical trials for MeRT are underway.
During MeRT sessions, patients typically feel a light tapping sensation on the scalp. The treatment is generally well-tolerated with minimal side effects, such as mild discomfort, fatigue, or a slight headache.
Sessions last approximately 35 to 45 minutes. Based on the clinician’s recommendation, most patients undergo treatment five days a week for four to six weeks.
Schedule your initial EEG and consultation to find out if MeRT is the right path for you. The team at Nashville Neurocare is here to guide you every step of the way.
TMS is FDA-cleared for depression, migraine, obsessive-compulsive disorder, cigarette cessation, anxious depression, adolescent depression, and chronic post-traumatic/surgical pain. Research indicates that TMS is also helpful for bipolar depression, anxiety, and cognitive impairment. Other uses for TMS therapy are considered ‘off-label.’ However, there is a growing body of research indicating the potential benefits of these off-label applications for a variety of mental health conditions. Please consult with a psychiatrist to learn more about TMS and off-label uses.
